My Showcase...
What I have done in my classes?
WELCOME to my showcase! This showcase is a compilation of three and half years of hard work in getting my technology masters (MAET) from Michigan State University. I have organized my showcase to emphasize: technology and grammar, resources for teachers, , and iPads in school. The series of master classes I have taken have changed the way I teach and think about technology. They have also taught me to think "outside the textbook" and look at new ways of doing things. What I am showing here are different ways I have used technology in my classes (grad classes) and how I plan to expand my technology knowledge to my students. I am always looking for different ways (and fun ways) to teach grammar so I start out highlighting what I can do with technology and grammar. Teachers always need new ideas for our classrooms so the next section are ways I have used technology to show teachers what they can do in their classrooms. The last section is all about iPad apps that have worked for me in my own classroom.
Technology and Grammar...
|
This is a digital story based on teaching grammar and how it is important to give meaningful assignments. This also shows how teachers can find purpose in lessons if they give students real life examples from sources that matter to students. Grammar can be made more fun if students understand why they have to learn it and find ways to connect it to real examples

I did this interactive powerpoint to show how powerpoint can be used to teach a complicated subject such as grammar. This powerpoint is interactive in that I used a lot of buttons to help students understand the different parts of speech. Students look at the sentence and then go through the different daily grammar steps.

Resources for Teachers
This is a picktochart that I created about different types of formative assessments. I believe that teachers can use different types of apps and Google add ons to test students on different types of subjects. The days of multiple choice, true and false and short answer tests are numbered. Teachers can use these different types applications to show student achievement.

This is my personal manifesto to help teachers who are just starting out or to help teachers who need some suggestions on how to do things differently. This manifesto offers suggestions on organization, what to do at the beginning of the year, resources, grading made easy, good iPad apps, professional groups, web 2.0 suggestions and some good books to read. These things I have tested and used in my own classroom and I wouldn't be the teacher I am today without them.

I used Explain Everything to create this project about Project Based Learning (PBL). I show how Schoology, Diigo, and iPad apps can be used to help implement PBL in classrooms. Organization is important so these tools are important to teachers and students especially when trying to implement a PBL classroom. Collaboration is also important so I also look at blogger and how to use this in the classroom.
This is a screencast from my CEP 813 Electronic Assessment class. This assignment pushed my boundaries as I have never really thought of Minecraft as a logical assessment for my classes. BUT I took everything in stride and created by first Minecraft "world". I have to admit it was fun, but it did take a lot of work to do! I can now see how this would have a huge impact on student achievement and motivation. This is my Dream It paper from my CEP 822 Applied Educational Research class. This was a challenge! I have never done research quite like this. I picked two topics (Google Scholar and Diigo) that I feel strongly about and how I think students need to broaden their researching ability and go past Google. Plus I wanted students to know that there are sites that can save research and ultimately help with writing papers. During this class I honed my research skills and my technical writing skills. I am proud of this paper and have used the information in my own classes. iPads in School
|
This was a group project about iPad apps and how they can help students and teachers in the classroom. It shows how using an iPad can be just as useful and meaningful as a computer in the classroom. Teachers and students can benefit from the iPad in a school setting.
