About me...
I spent most of my life growing up in Montana. I went to high school in Bozeman and then went the the University of Montana in Missoula where I graduated with my B.A. From small town Montana I then moved to Kumamoto, Japan with the JET (Japanese Exchange and Teaching program). I really had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I loved every moment of it and that experience helped me get into teaching. I lived in Japan for three years and while I was overseas I was fortunate enough to travel to many countries in Asia. After the JET program I spent nine months traveling from Hong Kong to Tibet, trekked in Nepal, spent a month in India, and rock climbed in Thailand. All of those experience helped me become the person I am today. I value different cultures, perspectives, and most of all different types of people.
Once back in the states, specifically Montana, my next job was teaching English on a Native American Reservation. WOW that was an experience for my first teaching job. I was emergency certified and stayed there for three years. To this day I am still friends with some of my students from the reservation. To make a long story short I then moved to Michigan and this is where I call home now. I have taught at East Grand Rapids High School for almost 15 years and while it has been different from Japan and the reservation, I still love what I am doing. Seven years ago I married a wonderful man and have a step-son who just graduated from Ferris State. Along with traveling I love to cook, garden and play with my animals.
