About My Classroom...
If you step into my classroom you will (hopefully) notice that I want to make students comfortable...I have comfy chairs and couches and a combination of desks and tables. I don't want a sterile like classroom with minimal items on the walls. I have posters from my travels and concerts I have attended. I have pictures and posters with inspirational quotes. I want my personality to show and I want my students to know ME when they walk in.
Students will use their devises while in my class. My school is a 1:1 Bring Your Own Devise (BYOD), so I want my students to know they can use and will use their computers or tablets when they come to my class.I hope my students leave my classes with technological knowledge that they can use in college. I have extra computers in my classroom for students to use if their computer is broken or when students forget to bring his/her computer. I have placed my desk at the back of my classroom so I can see everyone's screens, especially when they are taking tests. I also want students to know that they can work alone or work collaboratively with partners or in a group. |

I have an open door policy in my classroom. That means I let students come work in my classroom during lunches, after school, and before school. There are times when I have students come to work on projects or ask questions and they bring friends who also work. They know it is a safe environment and one where everyone is welcome. They also know I do not tolerate certain behaviors or attitudes as I am very up front from the beginning about what I expect.
